The Spirit of Discovery: After Nyne Meets Saga for the Latest Episode of the After Nyne Art Podcast

Saga Cruises have announced that their new ship, Spirit of Discovery, will champion British-based artists and design studios, serving as a showcase for the diversity and strength of talent currently coming from the UK.  The first ever bespoke-built ship from Saga Cruises, and the only new small cruise ship currently being built specifically for the UK market, original British artwork is leading Spirit of Discovery’s interior design, with pieces ranging from handmade ceramics to embroidery installations and palette knife paintings.

Showcasing work from over 40 British artists, names include established artists such as Helen Amy Murray, Evelyn Binns and David Harber as well as up and coming talent.  Each floor and area of the ship will be distinctive in its style, with the artwork underpinning the key purpose, mood and atmosphere of every individual space.

For example, the main restaurant will showcase stunning oil abstract landscapes and seascapes based on the British countryside by Sophie Berger and Corinne Natel.  The spa reception will be home to huge works made with shells by Blott Kerr Wilson, whilst UK city prints on aluminum with gold leaf detailing by Ewan Eason will be familiar to many and offer a glamorous backdrop to the bar on deck six.
