For the latest episode of After Nyne’s Art Podcast, presenter Claire Meadows meets artist John Akomfrah at his studio to talk about his latest multimedia installation African Soldier.
The installation was commissioned by the Imperial War Museum in support of the centenary commemorations on WW1 and is a long overdue survey of the contributions of BAME troops during the 2014-2018 conflict.
Says Claire ‘It’s vital that the stories of Commonwealth soldiers are told to give us a fuller picture of the conflict, its roots and its scars. John handles this commission with his customary blend of sensitivity and power.’
