Rebecca Conway: Valley of the Shadow 13 Jul 2018 – 21 Jul, After Nyne Gallery

After Nyne Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of Rebecca Conway’s work. Conway is the recipient of the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award 2017.

Rebecca Conway is a freelance photographer based in New Delhi, India. Previously she lived and worked in Pakistan, having arrived in the country while following the Silk Route overland through Asia. Drawn to the hope around the country’s first democratic elections in 2008, and covering issues stemming from the conflict in Afghanistan, she spent six years there freelancing for local and international media as a journalist, often travelling independently to remote locations, to tell under-reported stories.

Between 2010 and 2012 she worked as a correspondent for Reuters, based in their Islamabad bureau, until she moved to India in 2013 to work as photo editor for Agence France-Presse. She is currently working on this long-term independent project, Valley of the Shadow, documenting civilian PTSD and trauma in Indian-administered Kashmir. In 2017 this work was awarded the Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award and the Biennial Grant, and shortlisted for the Festival of Ethical Photography’s World Report Master Award. Earlier this year she received an Honourable Mention as part of the Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award.
