Caravan, the all-day restaurant, bar and coffee roastery has joined forces with Crosstown in Soho to create a limited edition doughnut this November. The ‘Sourdough Coffee Doughnut’ is a premium Crosstown doughnut made using Caravan Coffee Roasters’ Single Origin Nicaraguan Bosque bean. The new doughnut includes the Caravan Bosque bean three ways – in the coffee custard filling, coffee glaze topping and also in a finely ground dusting on top for the finishing touch. The limited edition doughnut will be available at Caravan King’s Cross, Caravan Exmouth Market and Crosstown Doughnuts in Soho from Monday 9th November until the end of December this year (£3.80 each).
The Crosstown x Caravan Sourdough Coffee Doughnut is the first in ‘The Single Series’ from Crosstown, a collaborative project which aims to select the best single-origin ingredients from some of the UK’s most respected and like-minded producers to create a one-off doughnut, each with a focus on one premium ingredient. The Single Series will initially focus on three ingredients – coffee, single malt whiskey and single origin chocolate.
This first collaboration reaffirms existing personal and professional relationships between the founders of both companies. Caravan co-founder and executive chef Miles Kirby worked under fellow Kiwi and Crosstown co-founder Peter Gordon at Gordon’s celebrated restaurant The Providores from 2001 to 2009, ahead of Miles, Laura Harper-Hinton and Chris Ammerman opening Caravan Exmouth Market in 2010. Both teams place huge emphasis on seasonality and locality of the ingredients that make up their offerings, as well as ensuring as much as possible of this is ethically sourced.
Caravan houses its Caravan Coffee Roasters roastery in the King’s Cross restaurant, where small batches of beans are roasted daily. All beans are sourced from single farms and estates in the specialty coffee market, with focus on quality, sustainability, freshness and fair relationships with all of its growers. Crosstown likewise reflects this ethos using high quality seasonal ingredients from around the world, sourced locally wherever possible. All of Crosstown’s doughnut jams, compotes, glazes and fillings are made in-house at the Soho site by its high skilled team of chefs and bakers. The Single Origin Nicaraguan Bosque bean was selected by Crosstown and the Caravan Coffee Roasters team for its subtle and lasting flavour and with at least one shot of espresso in each doughnut, it certainly packs a coffee punch!
The Crosstown x Caravan Coffee Doughnut will be available exclusively at Caravan Exmouth Market, Caravan King’s Cross and Crosstown Doughnuts in Soho Doughnuts in Soho from November 9th until the end of December 2015, priced at £3.80 each.

About Caravan and Caravan Coffee Roasters:
Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Miles Kirby, Laura Harper-Hinton and Chris Ammermann opened Caravan – an all-day restaurant, bar and in-house coffee roastery – on London’s Exmouth Market in February 2010. Such was its success that a second larger restaurant and bar followed in August 2012 on Granary Square in King’s Cross, which also now houses Caravan Coffee Roasters’ roastery. Caravan’s food and vibe reflects its founders’ antipodean beginnings and nomadic leanings. Miles’ ever-changing ‘well-travelled’ menu draws inspiration from his foodie travels across the globe, yet remains rooted in a commitment to the best local and seasonal produce.
Caravan Coffee Roasters operates from the in-house roastery at the King’s Cross restaurant and caters for all its customer’s caffeine needs at both restaurants, as well as supplying wholesale and retail customers in the capital and around the UK. Caravan Coffee Roasters are also the exclusive importer for ACME & CO. earthenware and was recently announced as official Coffee Masters sponsor.

About Crosstown Doughnuts
Crosstown is a gourmet doughnut brand set up in 2014 by Peter Gordon (co-owner and executive chef of Kopapa and The Providores restaurants), Adam Wills (co-founder of Gourmet Burger Kitchen), Marcus Miller (founder of Miller’s Bespoke Bakery) and entrepreneur JP Then. The Crosstown concept is simple – an aim to use the best ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible to make quality hand-made doughnuts. Every Crosstown doughnut is made in its London bakery with a sourdough starter from wild yeasts. This is combined with fresh baker’s yeast to create a ‘hybrid’ Crosstown sourdough which gives the doughnuts their unique taste. Flavours change regularly and are not your usual doughnut – with combinations such as ‘Pumpkin with Nutmeg Custard’ and ‘Orange blossom with date jam’, there is always something new to try.
The limited edition Crosstown x Caravan coffee doughnut will be available at Crosstown Doughnuts in Soho this November.
