FOURS – Damage
FOURS are a female fronted indie-pop band based in Shepherds Bush, West London. They consist of Edith Violet, vocalist, Dan Smith, guitarist, Jezza Wells, bassist and Luke, drummer. After meeting during a jam session on Kingston’s riverside, Edith started writing alongside Dan Smith. Those early embryonic songs leant themselves to a full band sound and they roped in the help of Luke and Jezza, both long-time friends, to further develop their sound.
PINS – Dazed by you
PINS are Faith Vern (vocals/guitar), Anna Donigan (bass), Lois Macdonald (guitar), Sophie Galpin (drums) and Kyoko Swann (synths/guitar). Hot on the heels of their wildly successful second LP Wild Nights, PINS have shared their video for “Dazed By You” on PAPER. True to the Manchester band’s aesthetic, the video pairs their hazy sonic ruminations with antiquated Super 8 footage of a journey across America interjected with chalk-like drawings. In the end it’s a true testament to PINS: style, playful nostalgia and a sense of adventure.
Pilgrims – Pieces
Pilgrims is a musical project born of Sydney-based songwriter and multi instrumentalist Jonathan Bowden and Australian born, London-based singer-songwriter Toma Banjanin. Though the two the two grew up together, time gradually pulled them to different continents. It wasn’t until Jonathan parted ways with his former band Battleships, that their worlds collided once more and PILGRIMS was born. Revealing debut single ‘Pieces’, the pair look to broadened horizons; building upon their largely organic, six-stringed sensibilities and embarking a soulful trajectory into indie electronica.
Grassfight – Please Don’t Tell
Sitting on their amps in a Christmas-lit storage unit in Denton back in 2010, Nathan Forster, Tamsi New, and Mark Demiglio felt eerily rooted in their slow-paced Texas environment and decided to move to New York City for a new start. When they started the band, Nathan had never sung in front of anyone, Tamsi couldn’t play bass and they both shared an irrational fear of people finding out they were a couple in a band. Undaunted, and heavily influenced by Radiohead, Spoon, BRMC, and LCD Soundsystem, they created a few fuzzy demos, found a drummer, and managed to put on their first ever show.
Mark joined Grassfight in 2010 and after some stormy studio walk outs involving broken bottles, smashed up amps and a few revolving fourth members, the trio to swear off adding anyone else to the mix.
Low – Lies
Low has booked an extensive North American and European tour in support of Ones and Sixes. They’ll play a short run of UK dates in October, including nights at Manchester Cathedral and Glasgow Art School, culminating in their largest headline show to date in London’s iconic Roundhouse on 10th October. Additionally, Low will play the End of the Road and Electric Picnic festivals in September.
