2015 MTV VMA Fashion: The Weird and the Wonderful

Over the past 3 decades, the MTV VMAs have served up some of fashion’s most unforgettable moments – from Madonna’s wedding gown/basque-clad performance of “Like A Virgin” at 1984’s inaugural ceremony to Gaga’s meat dress (which, believe it or not, still survives in Ohio’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). So which of this year’s ensembles is set to secure a place in the annals?

The Weird

Image 2 Pharrell & Helen

Like Katy Perry and Riff Raff before them, Pharrell and his model wife channelled Justin and Britney’s iconic double-double denim look – but, this time, gave it a 2015 update.

Whilst it’s a relief that our second co-ordinating couple didn’t take the “nude” brief quite as literally as usual, we’re not sure these safari-luxe ensembles are red (or even multicolour-squared) carpet ready.

Image 4 Amber Rose & Blac Chyna

Is our third set of outfit twins drawing inspiration from the second, by any chance? Burn.

Had our hostess not made this list, we would all have been mightily disappointed, wouldn’t we?

Well, when else can you get away with wearing an outfit constructed almost entirely from strategically-placed inflatable Smarties?

The Wonderful

Take note, big sis, this is how you do nude.

Image 8 Hailee Steinfeld

Giving us a so-now update on this season’s ’70s mega-trend in clean cuts and statement accessories.

Image 9 Cara Delevigne

Ms Delevigne makes us see stars.

Image 10 Taylor Swift

Not everyone could pull off a sparkly houndstooth tracksuit, but, in a rather thrilling departure from her usual style (and with the assistance of some killer Loubs), Taylor did just that.

Image 11 Vanessa Hudgens

In her boho-styled Naeem Khan stunner, Vanessa was the night’s fairytale princess.
