Two leading sommeliers, Sunaina Sethi, co-owner and wine buyer for Michelin starred Trishna & Gymkhana and Fleur McCree, founder of Little Beauty, have today announced that the second in the series of ‘An Unexpected Pairing’ will be held on 2nd September 2015. The series was designed to challenge preconceived ideas about what makes a great wine, a great wine pairing, and indeed about sommeliers themselves.
The second evening in the series follows the sell-out first event and we anticipate as much excitement for Little Beauty. Creating aromatic, intense and mouth-watering wine from the unique Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand, Little Beauty’s bottles are only available on limited release, with annual production representing 0.00055% of the total global wine market.
The co-hosts, Sunaina Sethi and Fleur McCree, will talk guests through a selection of Little Beauty as they pair them with a four course Indian menu. The menu will express Trishna’s focus on the South West coastal cuisine of India, using the best British ingredients and traditional Indian techniques. The evening will demonstrate that wines can not only be paired with spiced dishes, but can actively elevate their flavours to new levels.
A Zagat ’30 under 30’ award winner and wine buyer across all of hers and her brothers’ Indian restaurants – also including London’s Gymkhana – Sunaina is widely recognised for her skill in matching fine wine to Indian cuisine. She is further admired for championing wines from lesser known regions, such as Greece, Germany and the nascent wine industry of India. Fleur’s specialism lies in New Zealand wine and she splits her time between London and New Zealand since she founded her company in 2004 following years of experience in the industry. It is testament to her expertise in wine that by 2010 Little Beauty was already an award-wining vineyard.
