Get Ohm It: Next Level Wellbeing Retreats

CALA in Ibiza

Bloom and Wild

We recently ran a story about the best places in London to do a spot of rooftop yoga this summer (which you can read here) and as relaxing as these sessions are, sometimes we need to take out self-care to the next level.

Here’s four standout well-being retreats, to suit a range of budgets, when you need to schedule in some much needed tranquillity.

1) Freely Given Retreats

Free retreats?! Sort of… the core value behind Freely Given Retreats is to give everyone access to meditation retreats, regardless of their disposable income. Visitors are encouraged to donate to give others the chance to go, who may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so. The retreats focus on the practice of Insight Meditation – ‘a mindful investigation into the nature of experience, leading to wisdom, compassion and the ending of suffering.’ Spaces are almost all taken for 2015 but could provide a getaway with a difference for the new year. Retreats are held in three locations in Devon. For more info:

CALA Retreats offer holistic, healthy holidays in Tuscany, Ibiza and Morocco. Created by wellbeing professionals, Carolyne Ji and Laurie Richards, CALA Retreats run bespoke four and seven day programmes of energising yoga and meditation, raw food and nourishing fresh juices and broths, alongside expert wellbeing support which is designed to allow body and mind to relax, recharge and reset. Carolyne and Laurie have a combined 20 years of experience  in nutrition, functional medicine, yoga, meditation and bodywork and cater every programme to the individual’s needs, making it a uniquely personal holistic experience, in gorgeous getaway locations. 3) The Clover Mill

Retreats at the clover mill take place in a (you guessed it) restored mill, that has been on the Worcestershire site in some form or other since the Doomsday survey of 1086. The mill has been done up to provide luxury, five star standard retreats based around the Ayurvedic principles of healthy diet, yoga, therapeutic massage, meditation and being with nature. Guests stay in eco-lodges and benefit from spa treatments, yoga classes and beautful rural setting. For more info:

4) Les Sources de Caudalie

Les Sources de Caudalie is the place for a luxury weekend break in the French wine-growing region of Bordeaux. The so-called ‘French Paradox’ is the foundation of Les Sources de Caudalie – the fact that the French diet and lifestyle seems to correlate with good health. The luxury resort offers spa treatments, wine tasting and cooking classes, detoxing meals and a personal trainer – a healthy way to enjoy la belle vie.
