The Autumn Wardrobe: Caitlin Gorman on upcoming highstreet x designer collaborations

We are over half way through the blissful year of 2015, yet with still so much to look forward to, Caitlin Gorman reports. With upcoming designer collaborations due to impress the globe, we are left to only buy the essentials in order to save up for the releases. Collaborations such as H&M X Balmain and Carine Roitfeld X Uniqlo among many others give us a sense of what we have to await.

With an appearance of Oliver Rousteing, Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn at the Billboard Music Awards in May, we were given an exclusive peak at the upcoming collaboration’s collection. From the reveal, Balmain’s reputable Parisian element appears to stay in tact in the collection in collaboration with H&M. The H&M X Balmain collection is set to be released on 5 November.

Christopher Lemaire and Uniqlo are also due to release an exciting collection this autumn. Following Lemaire’s leave from creative director position at Hermes, himself and Sarah-Linh Tran have stated that “Uniqlo designs qualitative and made-for-all garments for everyday life, is also our approach to fashion and the philosophy of Lemaire.” Incorporating both menswear and womenswear the collection will be available in store and online this autumn.

Uniqlo have also announced a collaboration with Carine Roitfeld, with an October release of a 40-piece collection. While Roitfeld was placed on Style.com’s 25 Chicest Women in Fashion list, expectations for this collaboration are exceedingly high. The body-conscious silhouette style that Roitfeld is well known for has the potential to influence the collection in a modern and attractive light. Carine Roitfeld has stated following the announcement “I feel joy at creating new mode expressions. I am constantly asking myself what these are, and creating new clothing within the UNIQLO LifeWear concept is a great challenge. I started from the idea of clothes that I would want to wear myself, and developed this into clothes that anyone would want to wear, a woman’s ideal of clothes that make her feel transformed when she wears them”.
