With it being the end of May and summer fast approaching many students across the world are giving up the long hard days of partying, lectures and essays to finally graduate and fly off into their desired profession.
So in terms of Student Fashion we had to go to Graduate Fashion Week where After Nyne’s Jordan scouted some of the best Menswear collections from the universities of Birmingham City, UCA Rochester and Ravensbourne.
Birmingham City
Designer: Robery Renton
Robery presented a nice white, clean & sensual collection but made sure your eyes were watching with interesting unique cut-outs 3M detailing and Work/Sport influences which I could see as ‘Futuristic Office wear’.
Designer: Calum Whitely
It’s not hard to see where Calum Whitley got his influences for this collection I immediately thought of Galactic, Soldier & Puffy. The pieces really reminded me of blown up 90’s track/wet suits and I feel Calum could really have something going for him in terms of this aesthetic.
Designer: Kiran Kang
Reminding me how much I wish I was on a beach in Spain, Came in the form of Kiran Kang with his amazing sunset-orange palm tree print which can be seen throughout all looks presented in different styles. I think this would make an excellent cruise collection to stand out in the sun.
Ravensbourne
Designer: Alexandra Abraham
Alexandra presented a flair of unisex throughout her designs though of course with designers like J.W Anderson leading the trend of implementing womenswear style/fits into menswear Alexandra steps it up using a range of mixed materials, tailoring/fit and low platform boots.
Designer: Ester Kubisz
Designer Ester Kubisz really set the mood with this dark & abstract collection the styling and props he used for each look gave it a sense of life and I think if they ever did a remake of the Adams Family Ester would be perfect as costume designer.
Designer: Hyns Van Dyck
These aquatic designs by Hyns Van Dyck came in a range of different prints/styles based on observations from daily life and societies jet set lifestyle which in return gives us this clean and effortless collection.
UCA Rochester
Designer: Arosah Yaseen
Designer: Francesca Epinosa-Baster
Fashion print designer Arosah Yaseen and Francesca Epinosa-Baster presented their monochrome collections which featured an influx of city landscape and light floral artwork.
