‘The NHS will last as long as there are folk left with the faith to fight for it’. Aneurin Bevan
The NHS is being dismantled, patients are being turned away, public anger is boiling over and a cull of the population’s geriatrics has been mooted.
TV personality, Adrian Lovett, however, is happily enjoying a top tier, Level One, National Health Service…service.
He needs a heart transplant and will be broadcasting the operation live in a desperate attempt to boost his flagging career.
Brave Badger and Theatre Delicatessen present a new immersive comic theatre show which challenges the privatisation of the NHS called The Heart of Adrian Lovett. The play uses forum theatre techniques and takes place within a theatricalised setting of an operating theatre.
The show is written and directed by Mark Knightley with medical advice from Professor Allyson Pollock and Dr Jessica Jameson, with theatrical mentoring from Ridiculusmus Theatre Company. Design is by Lauren Pratt, lighting and projection design by Martin Dewar. James Maclaren plays the title role alongside Harriet Madeley, Tom Ross Williams and Alice Henley
Professor Allyson Pollock is leading a post-show discussion on 29th April
