Following his recent sell out show at Art Basel Miami, Max Zorn will be creating and exhibiting his unique works, using just a surgeon’s scalpel and brown packing tape to shape layers upon layers of the humble medium into rich sepia tone compositions. The exhibition will run with select live performances from 3pm to 9pm.
As Sanderson’s new Artist in Residence, this will be Max Zorn’s first solo London show since 2013, during which he will create exclusive pieces live to be displayed throughout the hotel. You can watch Zorn’s process here. The pieces created during the exhibition will also be available for purchase.
Ahead of the upcoming exhibition he said: “London has always been a European city of inspiration for my work, from the skyscrapers to the subjects of particular eras in time. Having an exhibition here feels like the circle of showing London in my work is closing.”
Zorn’s work has been described as classic, film noir and nostalgic and has been presented on street lamps in all over Europe, Florida, Canada and Hong Kong, his captivating cinematic portraits are all the more impressive because of the seemingly basic-element behind the tools used: rolls of packing tape and a scalpel.
As London’s first boutique hotel, the Sanderson name is synonymous with art and design.
